Sustainable Agriculture & Food Systems

Career paths in agriculture and food supply are geared toward those who want to build sustainable, healthful, and accessible food systems domestically and around the world. Environmental, social, and economic sustainability and justice are often at the core of their work with food production, marketing, and distribution. Others have a passion for creating and advocating for sustainable practices in land use and natural resource management. Career paths for this community may include working in food access programming, agricultural policy analysis, sourcing and distribution systems management, responsible product labeling, environmental program evaluation, management and monitoring, land and water rights policy advocacy, sustainable practices consulting, farming, education, and research. Employers range from local, state, and federal governmental agencies to international and domestic NGOs, and from small and large-scale farms to schools and community organizations.
