Handshake bills itself as the #1 place to launch a career with no connections, experience, or luck required. Handshake’s community includes 12 million students and young alumni around the world from 1,400 educational institutions, including four-year colleges, community colleges, boot camps, and 290+ minority-serving institutions. Friedman students use Handshake to set up appointments with their career advisors and sign-up for the Block Career Center’s programs and workshops.
Some of the features of Handshake include:
- Search and apply for jobs and internships (not all the opportunities in Handshake are focused on food and nutrition, but run the range of industries and functions)
- Set up automatic feeds tailored to your interests – personal RSS feeds send specific jobs or jobs at employers of interest directly to your email
- Connect with employers and learn about organizations – research companies and learn about their products, culture, size, and location (recruiter contact info and student reviews also available)
- Register for workshops, events and career fairs – find all workshops and career programs from the Block Career Center, as well as other Tufts University career centers on Handshake
