Sitting at the intersection of nutrition, foodtech, and economic development, the Innovation Institute brings together leaders, innovators, and investors to identify the shared challenges facing the future of food. While food is essential for human and economic health to thrive, Foodtech will meet the demands of the rapidly changing planet and and improve the food supply.
FIMI brings together experts from across disciplines with local and national collaborators to advance food is medicine research, training, patient care, and community and policy engagement. Tufts is the leading academic institution globally for advancing FIM, engaging in multiple large FIM intervention trials in collaboration with health care systems, extensive policy and comparative effectiveness analysis, and more. The Institute serves as a catalyst to drive change, improve health, reduce health disparities, and create a more equitable and resilient healthcare system that recognizes the power of nourishing food.
CO180’s mission is to improve the health of all children through innovative research, multi-sector partnerships, and stakeholder networks, intentionally addressing the complex drivers of health to promote equity in their work. CO180 leverages big picture, systems thinking designed to impact the health and well-being of all children, especially those in communities experiencing disadvantage.
One of the largest research centers in the world studying healthy aging and its relationship to nutrition and physical activity, the HNRCA is supported by both Tufts University and the United States Department of Agriculture. Here, graduate and postdoctoral fellows are trained in human nutrition and aging research with the ultimate goal of transforming life’s later years into a period marked by robust health, realized potential, and profound fulfillment.
New Entry works locally, regionally, and across the country to strengthen local food systems by supporting new farmers. Their mission is to foster resilience in local, regional and national food systems by training a new generation of farmers to produce food that is nutritious, culturally connected and accessible to all individuals. This work develops economic opportunities for new farmers, generates new knowledge, and facilitates connections to the land to build thriving communities.
FSN-IL promotes the food system innovations, novel technologies, and best practices to support improved diet quality, nutrition, and resilience. Their goal is to identify, test, and help scale up promising nutrition-sensitive food system solutions from around the world.
To accelerate cellular agriculture research, this center provides a scientific foundation via published, peer-reviewed data, brings innovation in technology, and provides consistency in quality measures to guide the field, and fosters workforce development and broader educational impact.
The Feinstein International Center’s mission is to protect and strengthen the lives, livelihoods, and dignity of people affected by or at risk of hunger or humanitarian crises. Their three primary areas of focus are: world hunger, humanitarian crises, and famine.
