Established in spring of 2009, the garden was included as part of the development of a new green space on the Tufts Health Sciences campus in downtown Boston. The Friedman garden is first and foremost a learning space for the Friedman Community. It is intended to aid interested students, faculty and staff in learning how to grow food in an urban environment. In its public location, it adds beauty to the neighborhood and serves as a demonstration for residents and passers-by of urban growing.
