ENV 9: Intro to Food Systems is currently looking for a TA. If you know of any students with a background or interest in food systems, food studies, or a related field, we would greatly appreciate it if you could share this opportunity with them.

Graduate Teaching Assistant for ENV 9 Food Systems
The Environmental Studies Program is seeking a Teaching Assistant for Food Systems for the Fall 2026 semester. The course is scheduled for Monday and Wednesday, 3:00-4:30 PM on the Medford campus.
Course description:
Introduction to the structure and functions of past, present, and future food systems. Emphasis is placed on the psychological, biological, social, economic and political systems that impact food production, processing, distribution, and consumption. Examination of real-world issues facing stakeholders in the New England food system.
Duties:
The Teaching Assistant will provide overall support for the course including attending classes, supporting in-class workshops, meeting with and supporting students, and assisting with grading.
Exact responsibilities can be tailored to the TA’s interests.
Requirements:
  • Background or prior coursework in Food related courses
  • Available to attend class on Monday and Wednesday from 3:00-4:30 PM
  • Available to work between 6-10 hrs/week
Compensation: $22/hr
Time commitment: Up to 120 hrs/semester, varying from week to week depending on the course’s needs, but typically 6-10 hrs/week (which includes class attendance).

    Annual Earnings

    Earnings figures are based on OES data from the BLS and include base rate, cost of living allowances, guaranteed pay, hazardous-duty pay, incentive pay (including commissions and bonuses), on-call pay, and tips.

    Technical Skills

    A list of hard skills associated with a given career ordered by the number of unique job postings which ask for those skills.

      Core Competencies

      The skills for the career. The "importance" is how relevant the ability is to the occupation: scale of 1-5. The "level" is the proficiency required by the occupation: scale of 0-100. Results are sorted by importance first, then level.

        Job Titles

        A list of job titles for all unique postings in a given career, sorted by frequency.
