Project: A Historical and Strategic Study of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) From Innovation to Global Access
Seeking 1-2 graduate students to work as research assistants for up to 8 weeks in the summer, 2026 (flexible, remote days between June and August, 2026)
The research assistants will support several literature reviews as part of a project being led by the Harvard School of Public Health. The aim of the project is to generate a rigorous, multi-dimensional understanding of the development, scale-up, and current limitations of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF). By combining historical inquiry with systems-level analysis, the project seeks both to preserve institutional memory and to extract transferable insights to inform the future of innovation in nutrition and global health.
The literature reviews will specifically focus on peer-review journals, books and technical or expert reviews.
Position Requirements:
- Can work independently
- Has previous experience with EndNotes
- A background in nutrition, public health, and/or food technology
- Preference for students who have worked on previous academic literature reviews, or have previous work experience in public health nutrition.
Specific tasks:
- Identify relevant articles for each of the above points.
- Put references in endnotes, including abstracts or summaries
- Develop relevant key words for use in Endnotes based on the broad topics outlined above.
- Provide annotated notes within endnotes together for an annotated bibliography
- Put together a brief literature review based on the topics outlined above.
Time Frame:
Provide provisional outputs by July 15 with final deliverable by August 31, 2026
Compensation:
The RA will be expected to work part-time (approximately 20 hours a week) for 4-8 weeks. The RA will be paid on a weekly basis at $25 an hour.
