Maimonides School, a private Jewish Day School in Brookline, MA, seeks an engaging individual with a strong knowledge of nutrition to teach a high school nutrition elective course, sharing their expertise and passion with a group of interested high school students. The ideal candidate is warm, creative, professional, and able to make scientific concepts accessible, relevant, and engaging for adolescents.
The Nutrition elective will meet three times per week from September through mid-January. The course should introduce students to the fundamentals of nutrition and healthy decision-making, including digestion and metabolism, macronutrients and micronutrients, hydration, nutrition labels and health claims, nutrition for exercise and adolescence, and the cultural and economic factors that influence food choices.
Candidates may have a background in nutrition, dietetics, exercise science, kinesiology, health science, biology, or a related field. Prior teaching experience is beneficial but not required; most important is strong subject knowledge and an enthusiasm for working with high school students.
