Postdoctoral Fellow Position in the Department of International Health (Human Nutrition Program):
Food systems, food security, and food policy

Description:Â Applications are invited for a postdoctoral fellowship in the Human Nutrition Program at the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University. The postdoctoral fellow will join a multidisciplinary team of faculty, graduate students, and partners, focusing on key food policy and food systems issues particularly related to addressing food insecurity, diet quality and diet-related disease disparities, structural determinants of food inequities, and promoting food systems that support environmentally sustainable and healthy food choices for all. Specific projects include: 1) the StOREE (Structural Opportunities to Rebuild Equitable Environments) study, which examines the impact of structural racism vis-Ã -vis historical urban policies and planning decisions on current day inequitable food environments and obesity disparities; 2) the SNAPPER project, a mixed methods evaluation of Covid-era policy changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP); and 3) contributions to other food and nutrition policy related projects.
Qualifications:
- Candidate must hold a doctoral degree in the following or related fields: public health, public policy, nutrition food systems, urban and regional planning, and/or social and behavioral sciences. The completion of all requirements for the degree is expected prior to the start date.
- Demonstrated experience with mixed methods, qualitative data collection and analysis using software such as Atlas.ti or NVivo or similar, and quantitative survey data analysis using software such as Stata or R3.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to work as part of a research team on collaborative projects and successfully meet project aims and deadlines.
