Job Purpose and Impact
The Retail Channel Sustainability Lead will lead the development and execution of strategic sustainability initiatives with businesses and other external stakeholders that drive progress in key environmental and social impact areas and deliver value to strategic customers) and commercial teams. In this role, you will build partnerships across Cargill businesses and suppliers across value chains, engage external organizations to advance sustainability frameworks and engage, educate and influence internal and external stakeholders to execute on the organization’s purpose to nourish the world in a safe, responsible and sustainable way.
Key Accountabilities
- Form sustainability strategy and tactics for prioritized strategic retail customers
- Contribute to develop supply chain policy, strategies, and action plans in an integrated operating company approach
- Interact with retail customers directly and indirectly to ascertain their sustainability related needs and partner with commercial teams to develop and deliver solutions to those needs to ultimately drive business growth
- Communicate sustainability policies and objectives to suppliers, partners and stakeholderes with the purpose to drive the extension of our supply chain policies and requirements through our suppliers
- Identify and work with external partners like nongovernmental organizations, foundations, universities and government offices for program design, implementation, securing additional funding and project work
- Develop, maintain and apply industry leading expertise in sustainability
- Represent the company in external senior level stakeholder forums and media in matters related to sustainability
- Other duties as assigned
- Provide expert thought leadership in your field and work with limited direction, using additional research and interpretation to identify issues or problems. You may provide direction to supporting team members and be a strategic contributor
Location: This position is open to a remote home office in the US.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Technical knowledge in environmental, economic and social benefits of sustainable development
- Experience in identifying customer needs and developing solutions
- Minimum of six years of related work experience
- Ability to travel up to 20%
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading customer relationships
- Experience leading projects with global stakeholders
- Experience in the food and agricultural sector
The expected salary for this position is $130,000 – $170,000. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific location, certifications, education, and level of experience. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. This position is eligible for a discretionary incentive award. The incentive award amount is dependent upon company performance and your personal performance.
