New this semester! Career Café

Born out of a desire for greater connection and support, Career Café is bringing together Friedman School students to tackle the rollercoaster of emotions that comes with job and internship searching. This initiative, lead by 2nd year student, Grace Durant, allows space for students to share their frustrations, unease, hopes, and fears in a room of like-minded peers.

Good food always gets people in the door, especially at Friedman. Over a shared meal, students have covered topics that range from envisioning the future self, practicing elevator pitches, and providing group advice for worries and stressors. There is no homework or prep required – just showing up with a good attitude, ready to engage in meaningful conversation – is all that is asked of participants.

Career Café is a monthly event in the Spring semester, with each program centered around a different theme to help guide discussions. While quite informal and casual in nature, Career Café has proven to be a much-needed outlet for students navigating the overwhelm of classes, thinking about next steps post-Friedman, and managing the everyday complexities of what it means to be a graduate student.
